Social Work Apprenticeship

The Social Worker Degree Apprenticeship is a fast track route in developing registered social workers. The programme is delivered by Manchester Metropolitan University with all 10 Greater Manchester Local Authorities . Candidates will learn professional best practice as well fresh academic perspectives, helping to drive social change and improve the lives of service users and carers. Candidates must be employed by a statutory or non-statutory agency that can provide the hands on experience and support needed to trained fully as a qualified social worker.
 

FrontLine

Frontline Programme is aimed at high potential university leavers and/or career changers, offering an opportunity to train to be a social worker. The programme is a two year funded intensive programme MSc in Advanced Relationship-Based Social Work Practice with Children and Families. Successful candidates will qualify as a social work employed in your Local Authority.
 

Update your skills, knowledge and experience as a social worker returning to practice. 

As a previously registered social worker who has not been registered with Social Work England (SWE) for between 2-5 years, this course will enable you to apply to register and return to practice.
The programme is offered free to qualified social workers living or working within Greater Manchester who intend to work for a Greater Manchester local authority after completing their studies. Social workers from outside Greater Manchester can self- fund for £1500.
You will receive 5 days refresher training incorporating updates on contemporary social work practice, particularly on legislation and safeguarding practices. Followed by 10 days supervised practice placement to re-familiarise yourself with hands-on practice within a local authority or other statutory team.
15 days private study will be evidenced in addition to the above to meet SWE requirements. This can be completed independently, or guidance can be given.

Please note that all applicants will need a current enhanced DBS to access a practice placement.
